NEW BOOK PUBLISHED

 
"WILSONS from SOUTHEAST INDIANA" is a new family history book just published in March 2007.  It has 5 generations of descendants of BENJAMIN WILSON, SR. (1771-1861) and his wife MARGARET ARMSTRONG (1771-1843).  They were early settlers in Dearborn County.  Their children settled in Ripley, Decatur, Ohio and Dearborn counties. 
Related families in this book include:  ROSS, MOODY, CASTOR, DAVIS, COLLINS, CONAWAY, BLUE, HEATON, SUTTON, MURDOCK, HODGES, BOWEN and many others.
This book has almost 400 pages, a Name Index, and several maps, documents, and photographs.  The cost is $40 which includes the shipping charges. TCGS members, Jean Wilson Perney of Indianapolis (author/compiler) and June Castor Herron of Green Valley, AZ (research assistant and proofreader) have collaborated over the past two years in compiling this book.  To order a copy of this book, write to Jean W. 2007 AHRENS  FAMILY REUNION  (announcement by Sally Widener)

To be held on June 30 and July 1 at Adams Lutheran Church

Near Batesville, Indiana  (times have not been set yet)

The only previous Ahrens reunion was held in 1937, seventy years ago.

Family History

Heinrich Ahrens, born March 19, 1819, in East Friesland, Hannover Germany.  He came to the U.S. in 1833 and settled near Hubbles Corner, east of Sunman, in Ripley County, Indiana.  He came with a brother Herman and two sisters, Martha and Anna.  Martha married a Sitterding and lived near Batesville.  Anna married Henry Pohlar,

Heinrich Ahrens married Anna Maria Mollenkamp, from Hannover, Germany, on August 14, 1843 at Adams Lutheran Church in Ripley County, Indiana. They lived in Hubbles Corner for some time and later moved nearer Adams Church. 

CHILDREN OF HEINRICH AND ANNA MARIA AHRENS ARE:

1.   Anna married William Christian Schutte.  They had 12 children and lived in the Adams Church neighborhood

2.   Christian married Margaretha Peters. They had 2 Children and lived in Indianapolis

3.   Heinrich (Henry) Married Anna Catherine Fruchtnicht.  They had 7 children . Three died as Children and lived in the Adams Church neighborhood. (Sally Widener’s great grandfather)

4.       Margaretha married Thomas Fred Schutte.  They had 7 children and lived at Lookout.

5.   John Herman(John) married Sophia Marie Niehaus.  They had 2 children and lived in the Adams Church neighborhood.

6.   George died as an infant

7.   William Heinrich (Bill) married Anna Maria Steinwart.  They had 14 children and lived in Iowa.  After his wife died, Bill brought his two youngest children back to Indiana.  He then married Anna Schmidt Einhaus and lived in Sunman.

8.   Frederick (Fred) married Minnie Kreinhop.  They had 8 children and lived in Indiana but died in Iowa.

9.   Herman Heinrich (Herman) Married Anna Crum. They had 6 children and lived in the Adams Church neighborhood.
